Watchman Trail climbs from the lower canyon through exposed desert slopes to a looped overlook. It does not reach the Watchman summit, but it offers a broad view of the formation, lower Zion Canyon and the entrance corridor. The route is convenient because it begins near the visitor center, yet it still exposes hikers to loose surfaces, limited shade and high temperatures. It is a practical buddy hike for matching uphill pace and heat management before committing to Zion's longer routes.
