Sand Ramp Trail
A long foothills access trail linking backpacking zones along the mountain base north of the main dunes.
Route overview
Follow the foothills north from the campground or Point of No Return, using only the section appropriate to the planned destination and return logistics.
Sand Ramp is primarily an access corridor rather than a single scenic destination. Beyond the first miles, sandy soil and pure sand create repeated slow climbs and descents. Hikers should define a conservative turnaround unless completing a planned point-to-point or permitted overnight itinerary.
