Rondane Traverse
A multi-day traverse of Rondane, Norway's oldest national park, linking DNT mountain huts across rounded, high-altitude peaks and open tundra.
Route overview
Rondane National Park, established in 1962 as Norway's first national park, offers a classic Norwegian hut-to-hut traverse across its distinctively rounded peaks and open high-mountain tundra. The route links staffed and self-service Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) huts such as Rondvassbu and Bjørnhollia. Unlike the sharper granite terrain of Jotunheimen, Rondane's peaks are more rounded, a result of the region's older, harder rock, making for classic long-ridge walking with expansive views. Wild reindeer herds are a distinctive feature of the park. The well-marked DNT trail network and hut spacing make multi-day planning straightforward for hikers with moderate mountain experience.
