Mullerthal Trail

Route overview

The Mullerthal Trail comprises three official long-distance circular routes through the Mullerthal region of eastern Luxembourg, an area nicknamed 'Little Switzerland' for its rugged sandstone rock formations, narrow gorges and dense forest, despite lying at relatively modest elevation. The trail passes striking sandstone outcrops, moss-covered rock corridors, waterfalls and historic sites including castle ruins, all within a compact area that has earned the region a Leading Quality Trail certification from the European Ramblers Association. Each of the three routes can be walked independently as a multi-day loop, and many hikers base themselves in villages such as Echternach or Berdorf to combine sections flexibly.
