Route overview
Leave the Coast Track at Tinline Bay and climb through regenerating and mature forest to Castle Rock Hut.
This route provides a more rugged alternative to the coast. After the initial Coast Track approach it climbs steadily, then steeply, through forest to Holyoake Clearing and Castle Rock Hut. DOC characterises the wider Inland Track as steep and rough underfoot with relatively few viewpoints.
