Deze officiële etappe van 28,9 kilometer is het zwaarste deel van de pilotroute. Vanuit Nant y Moel klimt het traject naar het plateau van Carn yr Hyrddod en Tarren y Fforch, loopt langs windparken en steekt de A4107 over. Daarna volgt ongeveer achttien kilometer over brede boswegen door Afan en Glyncorrwg, gevolgd door National Cycle Network 47 en paden langs Cwm Gwrelych naar Pont Walby Viaduct.
