Route overview

The Camino Inglés (English Way) begins at the northern Galician ports of Ferrol or A Coruña, historically the arrival points for pilgrims sailing from England, Ireland and northern Europe to reach Santiago de Compostela. It is the shortest of the major recognised Camino routes into Santiago. Starting from Ferrol gives a distance of just over 100 kilometres, meeting the minimum required for a Compostela certificate on foot; starting from the closer A Coruña gives a shorter route that does not on its own qualify for the certificate under current pilgrim office rules. The path passes through Galician countryside, small towns and rural farmland before joining the final approach into Santiago shared with other Camino routes. Waymarking follows the standard yellow scallop shell and arrow system used across all Camino routes, and pilgrim albergues are available at regular intervals.

Generally low-risk walking on established paths and quiet roads; standard pilgrim precautions around footwear and hydration apply.

Albergue availability can be tighter on this route than the Camino Francés due to lower overall pilgrim numbers, so bed availability should be checked ahead in peak season.
