Route overview

The Camino Aragonés is one of the traditional French entry routes into Spain for the Camino de Santiago network, crossing the Pyrenees at the Somport Pass before descending through Aragón to meet the Camino Francés at Puente la Reina, Navarre. The route passes through Jaca, the historic monastery of San Juan de la Peña, and a series of small Aragonese towns with well-preserved Romanesque architecture, reflecting the route's long pilgrimage history. Waymarking follows the standard yellow arrow system used across the Camino de Santiago network. Infrastructure is well developed thanks to the route's pilgrim tradition, with albergues (pilgrim hostels) available at regular intervals.
