Big Trees Loop introduces Mariposa Grove on a relatively flat combination of pavement, packed dirt and boardwalk. It is the grove’s most accessible hiking option and focuses on sequoia ecology and the Fallen Monarch. Access logistics are the main complication because most visitors must use the seasonal shuttle from the welcome plaza.
