Baltic Coastal Hiking Trail (E9 – Baltic section)

Route overview

This section of the E9 European long-distance path follows the Baltic Sea coastline through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, part of the wider pan-European E-path network coordinated by the European Ramblers Association. It passes through the Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared between Lithuania and Russia's Kaliningrad exclave, along with extensive stretches of dune, pine forest and fishing village coastline. National sections are marked and maintained by each country's respective hiking associations, with trail quality and waymarking varying somewhat between Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia given the route's cross-border, multi-national nature. Most hikers walk clearly defined national or regional sections rather than the full cross-Baltic route, using local trail resources published by each country's tourism and hiking bodies.
